JOB PURPOSE:
The Class B Driver will be responsible for transporting students in a comfortable, safe and timely manner. Driver responsibilities include arranging regular routine maintenance services for the vehicle, planning each route based on road and traffic conditions and managing payments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reporting directly to the Assistant Director Fleet, Mail & Duplicating, the Class B Driver the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Organize and maintain vehicle maintenance schedules.
Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip
Pick up clients from the place and at the time they've requested
Assist clients with loading and unloading their luggage
Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up to date on road conditions
Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road constructions, as needed
Answer clients' questions about the area and local places of interest
Ensure the car seats are clean and comfortable for all riders
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability.
Licenses/Certificates: A valid Class B driver's license is required to drive College-owned vehicles, must have valid driver's license and a clean driving record with no traffic violations.
Experience: A minimum of 1 year with a Class B driver's license is required. Experience at an academic institution is preferred.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS:
This position must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the job or must be able to demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed (with or without reasonable accommodation) using other knowledge, skills and abilities not listed below.
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Proven experience as a Driver A valid Class B driver's license A clean driving record Must pass DL51 medical exam (CHP) Pre-employment drug test Random drug/alcohol testing required by DOT Familiarity with GPS devices Knowledge of area roads and neighborhoods Availability to take weekend and night shifts A polite and professional disposition Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. at rush hour)
REQUIRED HOURS:
The regular hours for this ON-CALL position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday â“ Friday. Overtime, holiday, weekend, and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may change due to needs of the College or division.

HOURLY RATE:
The hourly rate for this role is between $22.85 and $25.00. The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to: education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior roles.
